Jiang Temple

Jiang Temple is a cultural relic protection unit at the municipal level in Hangzhou.

Jiang Temple was built in the second year of the Jianyuan era during the Southern Qi Dynasty (480 AD) when Jiang Yan’s son, Zhaoxuan, donated his residence to establish the temple. It is a cultural relic protection unit at the county level in Xiaoshan. Jiang Temple Park is named after the temple.

The park covers an area of 30,030 square meters. The original site and neighboring areas earmarked for redevelopment were previously densely populated residential zones with old and substandard housing — a challenging area in Xiaoshan’s urban renewal efforts. To achieve the goal of “building a strong metropolitan district and a modern Xiaoshan,” the district government was determined to redevelop the site, listing it as one of the top ten practical projects for improving people's livelihood in 2001. A total of 821 households were relocated, with over 58,000 square meters of floor space demolished, marking the largest demolition effort in Xiaoshan’s history of urban redevelopment.

The park features the traditional Chinese temple garden style. Built around Jiang Temple, it not only incorporates the characteristics of classical gardens in southern China but also delves deeply into the cultural heritage of Xiaoshan, serving as another important vehicle for showcasing the historical and cultural identity of Xiaoshan’s urban area.

Jiangsi Community: The Jiangsi Community has a permanent resident population of 9,505 and a registered population of 6,064. Among them, there are 1,897 residents aged 60 or above, including 277 aged 80 or older, and 708 youths under the age of 18. In recent years, the community has focused on building a parent-child volunteer service platform themed “Nurturing Love with Love” and a comprehensive prevention and control platform based on “community-based collaboration.” Leveraging resources such as the Nurturing Workshop, the Shi Guanmu Police Office, community patrol vehicles, and police convenience service vehicles, the community has established a collaborative service platform that enhances various stakeholders’ involvement, thereby strengthening residents' sense of belonging to the community.
