The embankment towpath of the East Zhejiang Canal is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

The embankment towpath of the East Zhejiang Canal (Xiaoshan section, Yuehou Bridge section in Shaoxing, Gaobu section in Shaoxing, and Shangyu section)

Taking the Xiaoshan section as an example, at first glance, it appears to be just a long, narrow stone path along the canal. In fact, it has a significant history — this path is an ancient towpath from the Tang Dynasty that once played a crucial role in transportation. The Xiaoshan section stretches from Beigan Subdistrict in the urban area, through Chengxiang and Xintang Subdistricts, and ends in Yaqian Town.
