Xiaoshan Wuben Hall

Xiaoshan Wuben Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

Xiaoshan Wuben Hall is located in Jinhua Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou. It dates back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era.

"A noble person focuses on the fundamentals; with the fundamentals established, the Way arises." In traditional Chinese culture, those who achieved greatness often taught their children and descendants that "studying poetry and books, learning rites and the Book of Changes" was the way to focus on the fundamentals.

Clearly, Wuben Hall takes on a cultural significance — that is, it interprets the ethos of family education through an architectural language.

In the seventh year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1868), Tian Zuo, then the magistrate of Dantu County in Zhenjiang, built this Wuben Hall. Backed by Lion Mountain to the north and facing Huan Tan Stream to the front, it is a grand, mixed brick, wood, and stone courtyard-style building with three sections in depth, wing rooms on the east and west sides, spanning 36.5 meters in both width and depth to form a square shape, with a central courtyard.

On January 13, 2017, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province announced it as part of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Units.
