Ancient Weir Painting Village Exhibition Hall

The Ancient Weir Painting Village Exhibition Hall is an important showcase of the Ancient Weir Painting Village Creative Base. Renovated from the Dagangtou Cinema, it covers a total area of 2,100 square meters, with an exhibition building area of 800 square meters, and officially opened in February 2006.

The exhibition hall displays over 90 oil painting works by more than 40 painters from the Lishui Barbizon School. It also features a display area for commercial paintings (mass-produced oil paintings). The exhibition hall adopts a business model that combines exhibition with sales. The name "Lishui Barbizon School" is derived from the French Barbizon School.

In the late 1980s, a group of Lishui oil painters were inspired by the French Barbizon School, adopting the spirit of French Barbizon painters to depict their hometowns with realistic brushwork and a reverence for nature. After years of practice, their works achieved notable success in exhibitions across the province and beyond, gaining considerable influence. As a result, they came to be known externally as the Lishui Barbizon painters. Today, the Lishui Barbizon School comprises over 100 artists.
