Guyan Huaxiang Scenic Area

Guyan Huaxiang is located in Bihu and Dagangtou, about twenty kilometers from downtown Lishui. The core area includes Dagangtou, Yantou, Pingdi, and Baoding, boasting profound historical and cultural heritage and a strong cultural atmosphere. The Longli and Lili expressways have exits here, and Provincial Highways 53 and 50 run through the entire area. It connects to the national railway network via Lishui Station on the Jinhua–Wenzhou Railway, offering convenient transportation. It is just over 100 kilometers from Yiwu, China’s largest small commodities market. Guyan Huaxiang fully showcases to the world an ecological and cultural Lishui.

The concept of Guyan Huaxiang was first proposed by Lou Yangsheng, Secretary of the Lishui Municipal Committee of the CPC, when discussing the positioning of cultural industry projects in the Dagangtou area.

“Guyan” (Ancient Weir) highlights the area’s deep historical and cultural roots. It is home to the Tongji Weir, a national key cultural relic protection unit built in 505 AD, as well as ancient streets, pavilions, docks, ancient celadon kiln sites, numerous ancient villages, and clusters of ancient camphor trees. These elements vividly reflect the beautiful landscape of this authentic Jiangnan water town with its genuine mountains, waters, and rustic charm.

“Huaxiang” (Painting Town) emphasizes the area’s cultural characteristics and development focus. It is renowned for the “Lishui Barbizon School of Painting” both within and outside the province. The area hosts the Lishui Barbizon Exhibition Hall, Lishui Oil Painting Academy, Guyan Huaxiang Exhibition Hall, Guyan Huaxiang Branch, and other facilities. There is also a professional art sketching and creation base — “Shui Zai Yi Fang Sketching and Creation Base” (located in Dagangtou Town, 23 kilometers from downtown Lishui, and serving as a teaching and training base for the China Academy of Art and its affiliated high school) as well as the Lishui Jiulong Barbizon Sketching and Creation Base.

Transportation

Get off at the terminal stop of Lishui City Bus Line 203. The first bus departs at 6:30 and the last at 7:00. Alternatively, buses to Dagangtou Town (where the scenic area is located) are generally available at bus stations in several counties and cities around Lishui.

Ticket

Ticket: 30 RMB. Ticket + round-trip boat ride: 40 RMB. Children under 1.2 meters tall are free of charge. Seniors aged 70 and above with a senior ID card can enter for free (boat tickets not included). Seniors aged 60–69 with a senior ID card can purchase discounted tickets.
