Fun Fact: In the 19th century, near Paris, France, the village of Barbizon was home to a group of French realist painters who used their brushes to capture the landscapes where ordinary people lived their daily lives. They discovered aesthetic value in the most common scenes. They were a group of painters who deeply loved their hometown and nature. The Barbizon School of painting is named after the village of Barbizon.

Over a decade ago, a group of Lishui oil painters, inspired by the French Barbizon School, realized that beauty exists all around us. Drawing on the spirit of the French Barbizon painters, they resolved to take it upon themselves to portray the beauty of their hometown—painting their homeland and turning to nature. After years of practice, their works achieved notable success in various exhibitions and made a certain impact both within and outside the province. As a result, the Lishui oil painting group came to be known as the "Lishui Barbizon."
