Qingfeng Gorge

Qingfeng Gorge was one of the ancient Ten Scenic Spots of Dongxi Rock in ancient times, located to the south of Zhuobi Peak and beside Chishi Tower.

The gorge stretches over 50 meters in length, stands 68 meters high, and is only 4 meters wide. Its towering cliffs, carved as if by axe and knife, squeeze the blue sky into a narrow strip. Walking through the gorge, you’re greeted by refreshing breezes. Truly: “A thousand-foot chasm splits east from west, cypresses south of the gorge, pines to the east; at noon or midnight the bright moon appears, and gentle breezes blow all year round.”

A poem by Liang Shangbi, a local resident, goes: “The gorge darkens, the sky looks small; the wind rises high, the air turns chill. Cliffs lush and green in close embrace, clear sounds linger with a fainting trace.” It offers an authentic depiction of the scene.
