Nanming Lake

Nanming Lake is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Nanming Lake scenic area is situated in the middle reaches of the Ou River. On October 1, 2006, the reservoir of the Kaitan Water Control Project on the main stream of the Ou River officially began storing water, forming an artificial lake in downtown Lishui with a water storage capacity of 28 million cubic meters. The lake has a shoreline of about 16 kilometers, a width ranging from 200 to 600 meters, and covers an area of 5.6 square kilometers, comparable in size to that of West Lake in Hangzhou.

Nanming Lake runs through the urban area of Lishui, featuring picturesque natural scenery along its course. It encompasses major water bodies such as the Daxi and Haoxi rivers, as well as landscapes including Pipa Weir, Zhong’an Weir, Ancient City Island, a thousand-year-old camphor tree, a 19-kilometer-long high-standard flood control embankment encircling the lake, and nearly 400,000 square meters of riverside green landscaping. The lake waters are crystal clear, with diverse aquatic formations such as bays, inlets, branches, islands, embankments, and shoals. Surrounded by undulating hills and lush, verdant peaks, the area enjoys fresh air and abundant forests and vegetation. Its natural scenery combines delicate beauty, tranquil seclusion, and open serenity, integrating the charm of lake views, mountain landscapes, and forested areas. Compared to the water-networked plains and lake regions of East China and those within Zhejiang Province, it boasts more distinctive characteristics.

Nanming Lake is located near the edge of downtown Lishui and is easily accessible. It is a popular spot for locals to relax and engage in fitness activities.
