Former Site of Chongde Primary School

The former site of Chongde Primary School is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

The former site of Chongde Primary School is located in Liandu District, Lishui City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era.

It was built in 1902 (the 28th year of the Guangxu reign in the Qing Dynasty) by a Christian church, initially serving as a girls' normal school, later renamed Chongde Academy, and then called Chongde Primary School in 1912.

During the Anti-Japanese War, when Japanese planes bombed Lishui and the city was occupied by Japanese forces, the Christian church set up a refugee shelter here. In the early years after liberation, the building served successively as the headquarters of the Lishui Regional Committee and the Lishui County Committee of the Communist Party of China. Having withstood a century of storms, the structure remains well-preserved. In 2017, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.
