Shuyiyuan Dafoshan Tourism & Holiday Base is located 20 kilometers west of Huairou District in the suburbs of Beijing, 70 kilometers from downtown Beijing. It enjoys convenient transportation and sits at the junction of Huairou, Changping, and Yanqing. Nestled at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains, on the northern slopes of Dayang Mountain, and along the southern bank of the Huaijiu River. To the west lies the Ming Tombs, to the north the ancient Great Wall, to the east Yanqi Lake and Hongluo Temple, and to the south the Yingshan Pagoda Forest.

Shuyiyuan is a tourism and holiday base built amidst beautiful mountains and clear waters, utilizing the area’s natural terrain. The park offers venues for summer and winter camps, as well as outdoor training activities. Facilities include a “water amusement park,” an “archery range,” a wild and fun “breeding farm,” a “planting base” and “orchard base” for getting close to nature and experiencing life, as well as an “observation platform” for climbing and taking in the view of the Buddha. You can also enjoy lively barbecues, bonfire parties, and set off firecrackers. The site also provides supporting services such as accommodation, dining, entertainment, and conferences.

The Great Buddha is a massive naturally formed reclining Buddha created by the shape of the mountain. Numerous figures and animals of various forms are also naturally formed from the rock, untouched by human hands, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of nature.

In 2001 and 2003, two national martial arts competitions were held here, receiving praise from peers in the martial arts community.

Named after the natural giant Buddha, the Ten Thousand Pine Buddha Character Forest is formed by tens of thousands of manually planted pine and cypress trees. The scenery is naturally wondrous, with trees shaped by human intent.

The Ten Thousand Pine Buddha Character Forest plants over 20,000 pine and cypress trees on a mountainside that is 200 meters wide and 288 meters high, forming a gigantic Buddha character that echoes the natural giant Buddha, creating a unified whole. Expanding this concept, the design extends up, down, left, and right, making the landscape even more beautiful and the land greener. Planting one tree is better than burning a thousand incense sticks; incense burns out and ashes scatter, but a planted tree offers eternal reverence to the Buddha, providing shade for future generations, benefiting mankind—an act of immeasurable merit.

Even for those who do not practice Buddhism, planting a tree in the Ten Thousand Pine Buddha Character Forest leaves a permanent memorial that complements the natural Buddha. The man-made tribute becomes part of the planter’s legacy. Commemorate the 2008 Olympics; celebrate reunions with old friends or schoolmates; honor family happiness and career success; give thanks to teachers and encourage students; celebrate birthdays and joyous occasions—let every pine and cypress become a beautiful blessing and a witness to history.

By paying a certain fee, you can sponsor a pine or cypress tree. We will issue a certificate, engrave the sponsor’s name on a stone tablet, and provide a gold or silver card. The card grants free entry to the park and discounted services. The sponsored tree will be permanently owned by the sponsor and is inheritable. For group plantings, a separate commemorative stone can be erected.
