Future Agriculture & Forestry World
Guide Designed by the Tourism Department of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, this site integrates economic production, research demonstration, information dissemination, sightseeing and recreation, as well as cultural education. It comprehensively promotes high-tech agricultural knowledge and eco-tourism concepts, allowing visitors to naturally enrich their agricultural knowledge while enjoying leisure and sightseeing. Introduction: The agricultural sightseeing park is divided into three major areas: (1) Dutch Greenhouses, covering an area of 3 hectares, producing high-yield and efficient Grade A green food; (2) Aquaponics Garden, combining factory-style fish farming with soilless vegetable cultivation, producing Grade AA green food; (3) Orchard, consisting of various fruit orchards naturally distributed along the river and roads, offering a highly natural charm. Dining/Accommodation/Shopping: Here you can taste the uniquely flavored Taihu boat cuisine, and also purchase local specialties such as Biluochun tea, White Sand loquats, and bayberries to give to family and friends. Specialties: Taihu Lake is famed for its “Three Treasures”: whitebait, white shrimp, and spiny bream, all highly praised by visitors. In addition, White Sand loquats, dark purple bayberries, ginkgo, chestnuts, and Biluochun tea are all specialties of Dongshan. Reminder: Authentic Biluochun from Dongshan is produced in limited quantities each year, and it is estimated that about 90% of Biluochun tea on the national market is counterfeit. How to identify genuine Biluochun: 1. Appearance: The color is emerald green with white downy fuzz, tightly curled and small in shape. When the container is opened, there is a distinctive fragrance. 2. Pour 60-degree Celsius warm water into a transparent cup, then add Biluochun tea; the leaves will slowly sink to the bottom of the cup, none will float. The leaves at the bottom are loosely scattered, not tightly clustered, and the tea water remains crystal clear with no cloudiness. 3. When sipped, the tea leaves leave a natural sweet aftertaste on the tongue—if not, it’s definitely fake, and there should be absolutely no astringency. 4. Never trust anti-counterfeiting labels. Transportation: Take bus 502 directly to Dongshan from the station (every 20 minutes, 100-minute ride, 4 RMB fare); or take a minibus from Wuzhong District Bus Station to Dongshan Town (every 5–10 minutes, 7 RMB fare). All buses heading to Dongshan pass through Mudu, where travelers can transfer directly to a minibus to Dongshan. During the tourist season, minibuses run back and forth between various scenic spots in Dongshan Town; at other times, only motorized tricycles are available, with a starting fare of 5 RMB. Ticket/Opening Hours: Off-season 35 RMB (December 1 – February 28 and June 1 – August 31); Peak season 45 RMB.
