Taichung boasts a rich cultural and historical atmosphere, with traces of the city's heritage visible throughout the old town area surrounding Taichung Railway Station. The Taichung City Government’s Tourism Bureau organized the “2016 Old Town Light-Seeking” event, planning a half-day walking micro-trip map to guide visitors through the streets and alleys of the old city, discovering unique local shops.

The half-day micro-trip includes three routes: “Life Behind the Station,” which showcases the former glory of the railway; “Old Streets, New Creativity,” where a new generation of innovation has revitalized the area; and “Ancient Path Secrets,” which explores the city’s century-long development and traces of urban evolution.

Each route features 10 guided tour sessions. Participants can register on the event’s official website. The experience includes a 2-hour professional guided tour and a 1-hour DIY sun cake activity, with a fee of NT$200 per person. Additionally, participants will receive a limited-edition commemorative postcard from the city center, a walking tour leaflet of the old town, and souvenirs.
