The editors have compiled a list of Taiwan’s top six scenic waterfalls—leave the air-conditioned room behind and head into the mountains for some truly natural cool relief.
1. New Taipei City – Shifen Waterfall

While Pingxi’s Sky Lantern Festival is quite famous, not far away lies a picturesque scenic area: Shifen Waterfall Park. Standing 20 meters high and 40 meters wide, Shifen Waterfall is not only the widest waterfall in Taiwan but is also regarded by various international travel channels as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

Located in the Neidong Forest Recreation Area within Wulai District, New Taipei City, this area boasts well-preserved ecological surroundings and represents the low-altitude stream canyon ecology of northern Taiwan. The park’s most iconic feature is the three-tiered Xinxian Waterfall. With abundant water flow and a powerful rush, the three-tiered waterfall offers visitors a chance to experience the grandeur of nature.
