It also maintains more than twenty historical sites from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The Splendid Rain Flower Scenic Area is a historical museum that encompasses the ancient architectural art, carving art, and calligraphy art of Dongshan. There are a total of eighteen scenic spots in the area, with more than ten already built and open to the public, including the Observation Lawn, Dongtingxuan Ancient Residence, Tang-Song Poetry Corridor, Ming Dynasty Twin Springs, Eight Steeds Galloping, Song Bridge Ming Ji, Yin Xin Stone House, Rongyang Exploration, Huanqing Historic Sites, Rain Flower Zen Temple, and Drunken Ink Tower. Introduction: The Splendid Rain Flower Scenic Area is the most historic, picturesque, and expansive tourist destination in Dongshan, with direct access to the summit of Moli Peak. The name “Rain Flower” of the scenic area originates from the Ming Dynasty when the mountain valley was filled with peach orchards. In late spring, petals would fall like a floral rain from the sky, giving rise to the name “Rain Flower.” Dining/Accommodation/Shopping: Here you can taste the uniquely flavored Taihu boat cuisine, and also purchase local specialties such as Biluochun tea, white sand loquats, and bayberries to give to family and friends. Local Specialties: The vast Taihu Lake is home to three treasures: whitebait, white shrimp, and spiny bream, all highly praised by visitors. In addition, white sand loquats, dark purple bayberries, ginkgo, chestnuts, and Biluochun tea are all specialties of Dongshan. Reminder: Authentic Biluochun tea produced in Dongshan is limited each year, and it is estimated that 90% of the Biluochun tea on the national market is counterfeit. How to identify genuine Biluochun: 1. Appearance: Bright green color with white fuzz, tightly curled and slender shape. When the container is opened, there is a distinctive fragrance. 2. Pour water at 60 degrees Celsius into a transparent cup, then add Biluochun tea. The leaves will slowly sink to the bottom of the cup, none floating. The leaves at the bottom are scattered, not tightly clustered. Additionally, the tea is crystal clear with no cloudiness. 3. When sipped, the tea leaves a natural sweet aftertaste on the tongue. If not, it is definitely fake, and there should be absolutely no astringency. 4. Do not trust anti-counterfeiting labels. Transportation: Take bus 502 from the train station directly to Dongshan, fare 4 yuan; or take a minibus from Wuzhong District Bus Station to Dongshan Town, every 5–10 minutes, fare 7 yuan. All buses to Dongshan pass through Mudu, where travelers can transfer directly to a minibus to Dongshan. During the peak tourist season, minibuses run between various scenic spots in town (departing when full, 30-minute ride, fare 2 yuan). At other times, only motorized tricycles are available, with a starting fare of 5 yuan.
