Suzhou Taihu Park is located 15 kilometers west of Suzhou city, within the picturesque Suzhou Taihu National Tourism & Vacation Zone. Stretching from the Shuifengche entrance on the Taihu Scenic Avenue in the east to Taihu Xintiandi in the west, the park spans 2.5 kilometers in length, making it the largest free, open lakefront wetland park in East China that combines ecology, leisure, and entertainment.

The park consists of eight scenic spots interconnected along a route: Windmill Embankment Shadows, Boardwalk Exploration, Leisure Twin Pavilions, Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, Seagulls and Egrets Homing, Reed Maze, Fishermen’s Evening Songs, and Sunset Tides Listening. It officially opened to the public for free in February 2007. Its establishment provides an opportunity for people living amidst the urban concrete jungle to get close to Taihu Lake and unwind. Since its opening, it has been widely loved and highly praised by tourists and local residents alike.

To better serve visitors and enhance the tourism service functions of the resort area, the park has in recent years built a new Tourist Information Service Center, a scenic restaurant, as well as outdoor barbecue facilities that can accommodate over 100 people at once, waterfront platforms, and wetland camping and other leisure amenities. The “Tourist Information Service Center” is located right next to the water windmill in Taihu Park. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a “100-inch large-screen multimedia guidance system” that provides detailed information to visitors on dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment within the resort area, and recommends 12 tourist routes.

In addition, there are 8 “Tourist Self-Service Inquiry Systems” enabling visitors to look up information independently. The center also offers tourism consultation services, hotel and restaurant reservations, ticket sales, guided tours, and handles various tourism complaints. The scenic restaurant, outdoor barbecue site, waterfront platforms, and wetland camping options provide visitors with a variety of leisure activities.
