Dongshan Forest Park (Yuhua Scenic Area)

Yuhua Scenic Area is the oldest, most picturesque, and largest tourist destination on Dongshan. Covering an area of 500 acres with 7,500 meters of walking trails that lead all the way to the summit of Moling Peak, the area also boasts over a hundred ancient trees, each more than a century old, hence its alternate name, Dongshan Forest Park. It also preserves more than twenty historical sites from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Yuhua Scenic Area serves as a historical museum showcasing the ancient architecture, carving art, and calligraphy of Dongshan.

The name "Yuhua" in Yuhua Scenic Area originates from the Ming Dynasty when the mountain valley was covered with peach orchards. In late spring, petals would fall like a rain of flowers from the sky—hence the name "Yuhua" (Rain of Flowers). The scenic area features a total of eighteen landscapes, of which over ten have been completed and opened to the public, including the Observation Lawn, Dongtingxuan Ancient House, Tang-Song Poetry Corridor, Ming Dynasty Twin Springs, Eight Steeds Galloping, Song Bridge and Ming Fence, Yin Xin Stone House, Rongyang Exploration, Scenic Spots Around Qing, Yuhua Zen Temple, and Drunken Ink Tower.

The scenic area also preserves more than twenty historical sites from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, making it a comprehensive destination that combines natural scenery, cultural heritage, and human landscapes.
