White Elephant Bay Happy Eco Park is located in the northern part of Cangshu, Mudu Town, Suzhou. It is a mysterious paradise “hidden deep in the mountains and unknown to the world.” Its mystique primarily stems from its geographical environment — Cangshu is characterized by its mountainous terrain, and White Elephant Bay lies nestled among rolling hills. The uniqueness of being embraced by peaks has kept White Elephant Bay a pristine sanctuary, where the area’s original natural landscape and the relatively undisturbed village life offer an idyllic hidden Eden amid the urban sprawl.

The name "White Elephant Bay" originates from a beautiful legend: the six-tusked white elephant, the mount of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, subdued a yellow eel demon here and then transformed into Elephant Mountain. Standing in White Elephant Bay, one can clearly see a verdant mountain that resembles a reclining elephant. The serene Ningxin Lake, formed by the convergence of clear streams from the mountains, also strikingly mirrors the shape of an elephant, adding to the site's enigmatic allure. Within the valley, there is a “Nine Dragons and Eight Winds Mountain-Sea Talisman Stone,” and the various eerie legends surrounding it further shroud White Elephant Bay in mystery.

Surrounded by peaks and dense forests, and abundant in flowers and plants, White Elephant Bay Happy Eco Park boasts a green coverage rate of over 80%. A tranquil lake lies within its embrace, exuding serene beauty. It serves as an ecological lung for the bustling city and a joyful “Peach Blossom Spring” by Taihu Lake. With its high forest coverage, crystal-clear waters, and fresh air, the park has become a favorite spot for yoga and tai chi enthusiasts, and even hosts the Suzhou Winter Swimming Association, which has designated it as their official winter swimming base.
