Suzhou Oceanarium

Suzhou Oceanarium is a phase one project of Taihu Water World, consisting of three themed sections: an aquarium, a diving hall (diving club), and an ocean theater. It is one of the most captivating attractions in Suzhou. Upon entering the aquarium, the first thing you’ll notice is one of the highlights of Suzhou Oceanarium: an exhibition of freshwater fish from the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake regions. It is said to be the only freshwater exhibition in China primarily featuring fish from the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake. This freshwater display area houses first-class nationally protected animals such as the Chinese sturgeon and the Yangtze River pufferfish, along with various species native to Taihu Lake.

In the marine life exhibition area, you can see rare marine creatures from major oceans around the world, including the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the South Pacific. Walking through the long, circular transparent tunnel, visitors are instantly immersed in an underwater experience.

The oceanarium also features Asia’s leading indoor diving hall. With a water volume of 1,800 tons and a depth of 15.8 meters, it authentically recreates the natural coral environment found at depths of 40–60 meters in the Maldives, complete with a certain level of biological load. Visitors can swim freely among the fish and enjoy an intimate encounter with them.

One of the most appealing attractions at the oceanarium may be its four Japanese bottlenose dolphins and two sea lions. After a short period of training, they have been performing wonderful shows for visitors at the Ocean Theater. In addition to animal performances, the Ocean Theater also hosts a variety of colorful events such as synchronized swimming, acrobatics, and song-and-dance acts. It will bring even more beautiful attractions to Suzhou’s scenic spots.
