Yao Tongbin (1922–1968) was an expert in missile and aerospace materials and process technology, and one of the main founders of China’s missile and aerospace materials and process research institutes. He led the formulation of the institute’s development direction and planning, and directed or participated in the preliminary research and development of hundreds of projects, achieving a large number of new products and other scientific and technological achievements, providing a technical reserve for the development of China’s missile and aerospace industry.
