Former Residence of Huang Yifeng in Dongtai

The Former Residence of Huang Yifeng in Dongtai is a cultural tourism site.

A national AA-level tourist attraction, located at No. 8 Mingqing Street in Dongtai City, this residence was originally built in the late Qing and early Republican period by Huang Yifeng’s father, Huang Yangtang. The residence faces south and originally had 48 rooms; currently, only two courtyards with 10 rooms remain, all built with brick and wood. The entire compound is compactly structured, using refined materials, simple yet classic in style. In 1999, during the third phase of Dongtai City’s old town renovation project, the Dongtai Municipal People’s Government renovated the “Former Residence of Huang Yifeng” and constructed the “Yifeng Garden” with Jiangnan-style landscaping on nearly 170 square meters of open space nearby. The garden features a “General’s Gate” at its entrance, and a bronze statue of General Huang Yifeng is enshrined in the Liufang Pavilion for public viewing. Inside, the “Exhibition on the Life and Achievements of General Huang Yifeng, a Literary and Military Leader” details his revolutionary life. In December 2003, the Former Residence of Huang Yifeng was officially opened to the public.
