The Su’ao Freeway Service Area, situated at the end of Freeway No. 5 and the beginning of the Su-Hua Improvement Project, has officially opened. FamilyMart has secured a six-year lease to operate the service area’s convenience store, which is now open for business!

With an ocean-inspired theme, FamilyMart has created a restaurant featuring a dynamic light-and-wave show, offering diners a unique ambiance distinct from western Taiwan’s service areas.
As the 15th freeway service area in Taiwan—and the only one in the east—it is also the first to greet the 2020 sunrise. Its architecture resembles a giant ship entering the harbor, making it a popular photo spot for visitors exploring eastern Taiwan.
The Su’ao Freeway Service Area lies at the end of Freeway No. 5 and the start of the Su-Hua Improvement Project, and it is the only freeway service area in eastern Taiwan.
Nobel Pudding, a well-known Nantou-originated snack that people in Yilan often associate with, is making its service area debut here.
The overall investment in the facility reached NT$60 million, aiming to become a must-visit photo hotspot for travelers to eastern Taiwan.
