Nianzishan People's Liberation Monument

The Nianzishan People's Liberation Monument is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Introduction: On September 27, 1932, Japanese invading army artillery major Watanabe Hideto and seven others were aboard the "Itakura" passenger plane sent to scout the Manzhouli and Hailar areas. On their return flight over Nianzishan, the plane made an emergency landing in the Wudao Liangzi mountain valley within Gannan due to fuel shortage. The eight Japanese soldiers were killed by local patriotic residents. The Japanese brought in a geomancer from their home country who selected this mountain within a 500-li radius to build a tomb and erected a monument called the "Itakura Plane Eight Warriors' Loyal Spirits Monument." The body of the monument was carved from golden-star granite, surrounded by low granite guardrails connected by iron chains. A bronze plaque on the north side of the monument bore the inscription. On February 4, 1946, Nianzishan was liberated. The people removed the inscription, sculpted a statue of an anti-Japanese guerrilla fighter from the Northeast on top of the monument, and engraved "Monument to the Liberation of the People of the Northeast" on the front, along with the inscription "The Liberation of the People of Nianzishan."
