Ruffled Stone Sea

The Ruffled Stone Sea landscape is located in Xiaoyangqiao Village, Dayangcha, Jiangyuan District. It is a geological formation composed of volcanic rocks. During a volcanic eruption, magma flowed through fissures in the ground but was obstructed by intense gas emissions, resulting in large areas of fragmented lava.

The Ruffled Stone Sea has a slope of 70 degrees and spans over 100 meters in both east-west and north-south directions. Black rocks covered with white dry moss are exposed on the mountainside. Nearly ten thousand azalea bushes grow in the surrounding area. Nestled among tens of thousands of azaleas, the "Stone Sea" resembles towering ocean waves surging and churning, creating a majestic spectacle.

According to geological experts, these black, ruffled-like stones are basalt. The hard and dense black rocks are roughly basketball-sized, with some surfaces covered in moss, and numerous shrubs growing between them. "A 'Ruffled Stone Sea' of such vast scale is truly a rare sight in the world."
