At exactly 9:00 AM on August 13, the 2014 China Beijing-Yushu Self-Drive Tourism and Culture Festival held its departure ceremony at the square of the Yushu Prefecture Tourist Service Center. This event marks a new highlight in Yushu’s distinctive festivals, following the 8th Kangba Cultural Tourism and Arts Festival & Yushu Horse Racing Festival, as well as the Sanjiangyuan Cordyceps & Tibetan Medicine Trade Fair.
In August, the Yushu grasslands are lush with water and grass, filled with frolicking livestock and the joy of harvest. During the 2014 China Beijing-Yushu Self-Drive Tourism and Culture Festival, Yushu Prefecture launched several premium travel routes for visitors to choose from, expanding the tourism market and establishing itself as a new hub for self-drive tourism on the rooftop of the world—the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
