Yanming Lake Ecotourism Resort

Yanming Lake Ecotourism Resort features over 80 water bodies of varying sizes, primarily Yanming Lake and Tala Lake. It boasts an abundance of wild freshwater fish and lotus roots, with a splendid combination of mountains, water, and forests, and a strong rural charm of “small bridges, flowing streams, and quaint houses.” It is an ideal destination for leisure, summer retreats, and vacations. The wetland ecosystem formed along the upper reaches of the Mudanjiang River within the resort serves as a natural reservoir on land and is also a breeding, migration, and wintering ground for a variety of wildlife, especially rare waterfowl such as the nationally first-class protected black stork. In 2003, it was approved as a provincial-level wetland nature reserve. The resort town of Yanming Lake has a long history and is home to numerous historical relics. The most famous is the "Twenty-Four Stone Slabs" in Yaodian, which hold significant practical and historical value for the study of northeastern ethnic history and culture, as well as transportation and architecture during the Bohai period.

Currently, the Yanming Lake Ecotourism Resort has completed comprehensive surveys of its tourism resources and commissioned the Urban and Rural Planning and Design Research Institute of Northeast Normal University to develop the “Yanming Lake Tourism Resort Master Plan.” The resort’s infrastructure is taking shape, with Danjiang Mountain Villa, Yingshan Lake Holiday Village, and Tala Lake Holiday Village already possessing a certain level of reception capacity, forming an integrated service system of dining, accommodation, and entertainment. The development has also established the Xiaoshan Fish Culture Eco-Village and Dashan Eco-Agriculture Village. The area has formed three major ecotourism functional zones: suburban ecotourism around the town, Yanming Lake fishing village sightseeing, and Danjiang leisure vacation tourism. Based on these three functional zones, through appropriate packaging and combination, four series of ecotourism products have been developed: ecological sightseeing products, ecological vacation products, ecological entertainment products, and ecological gourmet products, along with a festival and exhibition event—the Yanming Lake Live Fish Festival. A variety of highly participatory tourism activities such as fishing and angling, as well as premium tourism routes, have also been introduced.
