As autumn arrives, besides admiring the red foliage, you can now walk along roads such as Dunhua South Road and Zhongcheng Road to see rows of Taiwanese rain trees lining the streets. Their blooming flowers have created golden canopies overhead, officially heralding the arrival of fall to residents!

The Taiwanese rain tree is a native and unique plant species in Taiwan. Similar to the chinaberry tree (also called bitterwood), it has pinnate compound leaves, which is why some people also call it “bitterwood uncle” or “golden chinaberry.” It is also known as the “four-color tree” because it displays four vibrant hues — fresh green, emerald green, golden yellow, and reddish-brown — throughout the four seasons.
