According to the calendar released by the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration for 2015 (Year 104 in the Republic of China calendar),there will be 116 holidays next year (an increase from 115, due to the addition of an extra flexible holiday on January 2).This includes seven long holiday periods:New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year’s Eve and Spring Festival, Peace Memorial Day, Children’s Day and Tomb Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day — totaling seven.

● The New Year’s holiday runs from January 1 to January 4 (with a flexible holiday on January 2, making it a total of four days off, and a make-up work or school day on Saturday, December 27, 2014).
● The Lunar New Year holiday runs from February 18 to February 23 (Wednesday to Monday, a total of six days off)
● The Peace Memorial Day (228) holiday is from February 27 to March 1 (falling on a Saturday, with a make-up day on Friday, totaling three days off)
● Children’s Day and Qingming Festival are from April 3 to April 6 (Friday to Monday, with make-up days on both Friday and Monday due to the weekend, totaling four days off)
● The Dragon Boat Festival is from June 19 to June 21 (falling on a Saturday, with a make-up day on Friday, totaling three days off)

● The National Day holiday is from October 9 to October 11 (falling on a Saturday, with a make-up day on Friday, totaling three days off)
With the addition of the flexible New Year’s holiday, the total number of long holiday periods increases from six to seven. Office workers can adjust their schedules accordingly, and laborers still get three days off for Labor Day on May 1. Meanwhile, New Year’s Eve on December 31 falls on a Thursday. Other major holidays like Valentine’s Day and Father’s Day fall on Saturdays, while Christmas is on a Friday. Those planning trips for next year may want to start preparing early.
Additionally, the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration estimates that over the next 10 years (from 2015 to 2024), there will be five years where memorial holidays can be flexibly adjusted, resulting in nine additional long holiday periods within the decade.
