Hardest-to-book all-you-can-eat restaurant: Han Lai Harbor SOGO Dunhua Branch opens on October 30

The sixth branch of Han Lai Harbor Restaurant, known as the "Buffet King of Taiwan," is set to open at Taipei SOGO Dunhua on October 30. Wu Ruoning, Associate Director of Marketing and Planning at Han Lai Food, said that the SOGO Dunhua location is designed and built to the standards of a themed restaurant. Signature dishes such as the XO sauce hotpot soup, freshly blanched beef soup, and brandy grapefruit will also be available here. However, it’s a bit of a pity that due to space limitations, one of Han Lai Harbor's iconic features—the trolley service—will not be making an appearance in Taipei.

The Han Lai Harbor Restaurant SOGO Dunhua Branch, scheduled to open on October 30, will see a slight price increase. Weekday lunch is NT$830, afternoon tea is NT$600, and dinner is NT$980. Weekend lunch is NT$1080, afternoon tea remains unchanged at NT$600 (the only item not raised), and dinner is NT$1080. The restaurant spans 400 ping (approximately 1,322 square meters) with 280 seats, making it the smallest branch in terms of floor area so far. Although rising venue and labor costs have led to the price adjustments, Wu Ruoning also noted that the overall dining quality will be enhanced, ensuring Taipei customers get great value for their money.

Seafood, XO sauce scallop hotpot, freshly blanched beef soup, and brandy grapefruit are all signature dishes at Han Lai Harbor Restaurant, and these will be faithfully replicated at the SOGO Dunhua location. However, Wu Ruoning mentioned that the XO sauce hotpot may not always feature scallops—it could include other ingredients instead. In addition, the Han Lai Harbor SOGO Dunhua Branch has also brought in some popular queue-worthy dishes, such as Sanxing scallion meat patties and milkfish seafood rice noodle soup, which are not available at other branches.
