Ancestral Temple of the Qing

The Ancestral Temple of the Qing is a cultural tourism attraction.

According to the Draft History of Qing: “Dunhua was the site where the founding ancestors of the Qing resided in the city of Edori — this place. It was originally part of the territory of Emuhesuoluo. In the eighth year of the Guangxu reign, a new town was established here under the jurisdiction of Jilin.” Dunhua is the birthplace of the Qing imperial family. The founding ancestor of the Qing, Bukūri Yongšon, was born here, quelled the rebellion of the Three Clans, and founded the Manchu regime. Based on this historical fact, the 50,000-square-meter Ancestral Temple of the Qing Founding Ancestors was built here.

The core area is located on the western shore of Sacred Lotus Lake and at the southern foot of Liuding Mountain, surrounded by the Eight Banners Mountains. The Ancestral Temple of the Qing Founding Ancestors consists of three major projects: the Ancestral Temple, the Heavenly Maiden Palace, and the Ancestral Hall of Lineage. It also incorporates elements of Shaman culture, especially intangible cultural heritage such as Shamanic rituals. Once fully completed, the Ancestral Temple of the Qing Founding Ancestors will become a center for showcasing the history, culture, and folk customs of the Manchu people of Changbai Mountain, as well as a sacred site for Manchu people from around the world to seek their roots and worship their ancestors, and a spiritual home embodying humanistic values.
