Dalian Coastal National Geopark

Dalian Coastal National Geopark is a national geopark and a science education base.

Dalian Coastal National Geopark is located at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, along the southeastern coastal area of Dalian. The park covers an area of 64.50 km² and is the core scenic area of Golden Pebble Beach. As a national 5A-level tourist resort, Golden Pebble Beach boasts unique coastal mountain landforms, spectacular rock formations on the beach, abundant ancient fossils within the rock layers, and beautiful local legends. It rightfully earns titles such as “Miracle of Nature,” “Frozen Animal World,” “Sculpture Park of Divine Power,” and “Natural Geological Museum.”

The park’s extraordinary rocks were formed during the 800–600 million-year-old Sinian and Cambrian periods. The geological features, sedimentary rocks, and numerous ancient fossils are densely distributed, creating five major natural scenic areas: Golden Stone Garden, Dinosaur Garden, South Beauty Garden, Ao Beach Garden, and others, featuring nearly a hundred scenic spots that are vividly lifelike and diverse in form.

Natural landscapes of various shapes—such as “Stone Monkey Gazing at the Sea,” “Dinosaur Exploring the Sea,” “Roc Spreading Its Wings,” “Beethoven’s Head,” “Hedgehog Foraging,” and “Crabs Emerging from the Cave”—are lined up from west to east, naturally formed and exquisitely crafted.

Transportation by Bus: Take the urban express rail from Dalian Railway Station directly to the terminal station, Golden Pebble Beach. The journey takes 52 minutes and costs 8 RMB.

Self-Drive Route: Shenyang-Dalian Expressway (Dayaowan) → Highway 5 → Golden Pebble Beach → Jinshi Road → Haibin East Road → Turn right at Liangshuiwan Food Stalls → Wanfuding Park → Junhai → Dalian Coastal National Geopark (heading toward Golden Pebble Golf Course).
