Yichun Tea Oil
Tea oil is one of the world’s four major woody edible oils. The oil-tea camellia tree is a uniquely advantageous natural resource in China. Yichun City boasts superior natural conditions, a long history of tea oil cultivation, and abundant resources. The city currently has 1.8825 million mu of oil-tea camellia forest, typically producing over 8 million kilograms of tea oil annually. Moreover, Yuanzhou District is honored as the "Oil-Tea Camellia Hometown of China." Yichun enjoys a mild climate and fertile soil, offering uniquely favorable natural conditions for oil-tea camellia cultivation. The comprehensive development and utilization of the oil-tea camellia industry also started relatively early. In 1992, Yichun City (now Yuanzhou District) invested over 50 million yuan to establish Jiangxi Haitian Industrial Corporation, the largest oil-tea camellia comprehensive utilization enterprise in China at the time, which was also granted the right to engage in self-operated import and export.
In recent years, the development of Yichun’s oil-tea camellia industry has achieved remarkable results. First, the cultivation of oil-tea camellia resources has developed steadily. The city currently has 1.8825 million mu of oil-tea camellia forest, accounting for 15.87% of the city’s total forested area and 79.6% of its economic forest area. Among the city’s 10 counties (cities, districts), seven have oil-tea camellia forests covering over 100,000 mu, including Yuanzhou District with 805,000 mu, recognized as the "Oil-Tea Camellia Hometown of China." There are 78 towns with contiguous oil-tea camellia plantations exceeding 10,000 mu, of which 26 exceed 30,000 mu. The city typically produces over 8 million kilograms of tea oil annually, with an output value exceeding 170 million yuan. Second, the development of Qinglong High-Tech Co., Ltd., a leading enterprise in the oil-tea camellia industry chain, has been remarkable. This company was established in 2001 when the Qinglong Group acquired the former Jiangxi Haitian Industrial Corporation. Within just over three years, Qinglong High-Tech Co., Ltd. has grown to an annual output value of over 30 million yuan. Its tea oil products have successively passed a series of rigorous quality certifications and have been exported to countries such as Japan and South Korea, earning the reputation of being the "Oriental Olive Oil."
