According to the Beijing Times, on March 22, a forest fire broke out on Dahei Mountain in Jinzhou New District, Dalian, resulting in the deaths of 5 hikers. The fire was caused by primary and middle school students playing with fire. The individuals involved were all under 14 years old and had specifically bought lighters and brought alcohol. Among the deceased was a couple—the husband had managed to escape the encircling flames but returned to rescue his wife and was engulfed by the fire.
