A wildfire broke out at 13:48 today in the Dahuishan scenic area of Jinzhou New District, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, resulting in the deaths of five hikers. Police said the flames spread rapidly due to strong winds, and local tourists were evacuated urgently. However, the fire occurred during a period of 6 to 7 grade gales, which further fueled the mountain blaze.
Dahuishan Mountain, known as the “Number One Mountain in Southern Liaoning,” is located about 5 kilometers east of downtown Jinzhou New District, Dalian City. With its main peak standing at an elevation of 663.1 meters and covering an area of 23.79 square kilometers, it is a cultural heritage site protected by Liaoning Province and also a renowned religious sanctuary in Northeast China.
