　　 Daliu Village is located at the northeast corner of Liangzhou District, Wuwei City, Gansu Province, 9 kilometers along the Wuxia Highway, within the well and spring irrigation zone. The village has seven villager groups, 420 households, and a population of 1,761 people, with 2,750 mu of arable land, averaging 1.3 mu of farmland per person. In recent years, Daliu Village has seized opportunities and made careful arrangements to further adjust its agricultural industry structure. Aiming for a development pattern centered on a single specialized product per village, the village has vigorously developed the cultivation of greenhouse watermelons, leading to the thriving growth of its watermelon industry.

　　 By the end of 2010, the village had built 427 greenhouses covering an area of 800 mu, largely achieving the key governance goal of one greenhouse per household in the Shiyang River Basin. Over 95% of the village’s greenhouse growers primarily cultivate greenhouse watermelons, mainly planting those with green rinds and red flesh, supplemented by those with black rinds and red flesh as well as green rinds and yellow flesh. The greenhouse watermelon industry alone generates an annual income of more than 9 million yuan for the village, with per capita watermelon income reaching 5,100 yuan—accounting for 82% of the farmers’ per capita net income. In 2010, the per capita net income of Daliu Village reached 6,200 yuan.

　　 After several years of development, the greenhouse watermelon industry in Daliu Village has continued to grow and prosper. Daliu Watermelons are highly popular in the market, and the “pollution-free watermelons” of Daliu Township have gained fame both within and outside the province. They have expanded beyond Gansu, being sold in multiple provinces and cities including Xinjiang, Qinghai, Ningxia, Zhengzhou, and Shaanxi.
