History: The Swire Group established a private reservoir in the mid-levels of the Seven Sisters area in North Point in 1883, known as the Seven Sisters Reservoir. Because local residents believed its scenery rivaled that of West Lake in Hangzhou, China, the reservoir was also referred to as Sai Wu Hu. The reservoir supplied water to the Taikoo Dockyard, Taikoo Sugar Refinery, and Hong Kong Soda Water Factory located in Taikoo. In 1977, the reservoir was filled in to develop a private residential area, and part of the land was returned to the British Hong Kong government for management.
