Antique Fan Museum

The Antique Fan Museum is located at 168 Agon Yan Tsuen Road, Shau Kei Wan, Eastern District, Hong Kong. It is a small private museum established on October 1, 2005, by businessman Chung Hon-ping, who runs a petrol business. The museum covers an area of approximately 15 square meters and was originally a ground-floor shop.

The Antique Fan Museum is the world’s first museum dedicated to antique fans. It displays 250 vintage electric fans produced between 1890 and 1954 from around the globe, with a focus on models made in Shanghai from 1900 to 1954. The collection includes renowned brands such as General Electric (USA), Birmingham (UK), Kawasaki (Japan), Siemens (Germany), and China’s Huasheng. The oldest fan in the museum is a rose-patterned General Electric fan from the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, while the most recent is a 1954 Huasheng fan. The most valuable item is a 1912 General Electric fan currently valued at HK$30,000.

The Antique Fan Museum is open to the public every Sunday and offers free admission, but advance booking is required.
