The 2017 Taiwan Lantern Festival will kick off on February 7, 2017. This year’s event in Yunlin is divided into two major lantern zones: the Huwei Main Lantern Zone and the Beigang Lantern Zone. It’s important to note that the opening times for these two zones differ. The Huwei Main Lantern Zone is located in the Nongbo Ecological Park near the Yunlin HSR Station and runs from February 11 to 19, lasting nine days.

This was my first visit to Caopingtou, located in Xinyi Township, Nantou. Departing from Douliu at 7 AM on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, it took roughly 90 minutes to arrive at the Yushan Sightseeing Tea Plantation in Caopingtou. The drive wasn’t too difficult, and the scenery along the way was quite pleasant. My goal in coming to Caopingtou was to witness the once-a-year gathering of cherry, peach, and plum blossoms—all three flowers intertwined with the tea fields.
