Like a European town square surrounded by romantic jasmine blossoms – a super Instagrammable free attraction in Changhua

Huatan Township in Changhua County has long been known as the “Hometown of Jasmine.” It produces more jasmine than any other place in Taiwan, but with the shift in Taiwan’s industrial structure, jasmine cultivation has declined over the years. Therefore, in 2013, the Huatan Township Farmers’ Association transformed an idle grain barn into the country’s only jasmine-themed“Huatan Jasmine Dream Museum”to help the public learn more about the history of jasmine.

Although the Huatan Jasmine Dream Museum was built from an unused grain barn, the addition of pastel blue, pink, and yellow paint, along with varied landscapes, windows, and street lamps, makes it feel like stepping into a fairy-tale world — a place where visitors can’t stop taking photos. The arcade area also includes thoughtful details, such as hopscotch patterns on the ground, which not only attract children to play but also bring back childhood memories for many adults.

Another highlight is the rainbow corridor decorated with little windmills. As you step inside, you’re greeted by the refreshing scent of jasmine, and further in lies a small garden filled with various species of jasmine flowers, as well as a super cute heart-shaped photo backdrop for visitors to use.

Inside the museum, there are themed exhibition areas, a Jasmine Kitchen, and a souvenir shop. Through illustrated text displays and cute character signs, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the history of jasmine in Taiwan and learn about Huatan Township. A variety of jasmine-inspired cultural and creative products and souvenirs are also available for purchase. Despite its modest size, the Huatan Jasmine Dream Museum shows great care and effort in its design and is a perfect destination for family outings.
