Fuzheng Temple

Fuzheng Temple is a cultural tourism attraction and a patriotic education base.

Fuzheng Temple, also known as Baotou Zhao, originally named “Butusumu” in Mongolian and also called “Fuzheng Temple,” is the only Mongolian lamasery within the old city of Baotou. It also served as the family temple of the “Ba Family.” The “Ba Family” practiced Lamaism (Yellow Sect), and at the time, to facilitate collective worship and religious activities, it was built through contributions from various households of the “Ba Family.”

Constructed during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, it has a history of 300 years. Historically, it served not only as a site for religious activities and gatherings where Mongolians and Han Chinese discussed matters, but also as one of the secret contact points for the Chinese Communist Party’s revolutionary activities in the Baotou area during the domestic revolutionary war period. In 1925, the first CCP organization in Baotou—the Baotou Working Committee—was established at Fuzheng Temple. In 1964, it was designated as a cultural relics protection unit by the Baotou Cultural Relics Management Office. In 1983, it was named a patriotic education base by the Baotou Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
