Bwabwata National Park (Bwabwata National Park), previously called Caprivi Game Park and also known as the “People’s Park,” is unique in that it is inhabited by both large wildlife and people. This distinctive setup benefits both humans and the animal kingdom, supporting wildlife conservation while also fostering community development. Community wildlife guards and their resource monitors actively protect wildlife, which not only secures the long-term survival of the animals but also boosts the livelihoods of the Caprivi people through ecotourism.

Covering an area of 6,100 square kilometers and stretching 180 kilometers from west to east along the Kavango River, Bwabwata National Park is easily accessible. The park is covered with vast deciduous woodlands, mainly consisting of wild waterberry, black ironwood, and Zambian teak. It serves as a sanctuary for 35 species of large wildlife, along with countless smaller species and 339 bird species. Most of the wildlife is not easily visible from vehicles, but commonly spotted animals include elephants, roan antelope, striped hyena, hippos, and a variety of birds. The best time to visit is during the month of October.
