Located in southwestern Africa, Namibia has an arid climate with little rainfall, so many areas are barren deserts devoid of vegetation. German photographer Helin Bereket recently traveled there and, upon seeing the road signs in the desert, felt they gave off a lonely and desolate vibe, prompting her to capture them in photos.
Traveling between villages in Namibia requires crossing uninhabited desert roads. Along these nearly 4,000 kilometers of highways, Helin Bereket noticed the scattered road signs along the way.
Helin Bereket described how the road signs stood alongside dusty lanes, with passing vehicles likely being the only visitors those signs had seen in this barren land for a long time, creating a feeling of solitude.
