How far can the limits of image resolution go? UK contact lens retailer Lenstore recently released a 7.3-billion-pixel London "Timelapse," showcasing a 24-hour time-lapse video shot within London in February 2018.
This project was a collaboration between Lenstore, 360° imaging production company Visualise, photographer Henry Stuart, Nikon, and real estate firm Canary Wharf Group. Below is the related "Timelapse" short video:

Henry Stuart used a Nikon D850 equipped with a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8D IF-ED II lens. The production team utilized machine assistance to shoot from the rooftop of a building every hour, capturing 260 photos each time. After 24 hours and 24 shooting sessions, they obtained 6,240 photos at 4500 megapixels each. These were then combined to create this "Timelapse."
Since each "single photo" taken hourly is composed of 260 individual images, the resolution is extremely high—even allowing viewers to see details up to 8 kilometers away. Below is the interactive final product, which allows for arbitrary zooming and panning to view:
