Hainan University Will Provide Accommodation for Travelers
“As for how it all started, it was actually quite accidental.” Huang Haining, head of Hainan University’s security department, told reporters that on the evening of the 19th, while patrolling the campus, he noticed several tents pitched on the open space in front of the teaching area. Upon inquiry, he learned that they were six students from Xiangtan University who had come to Hainan for a cycling tour around the island.
Huang Haining said that since the weather was cool at night, and sleeping in the tents might make the students catch a cold, he took them to rest in an empty room at the security office.

“Since so many students have this need, I thought, why not set up a travelers’ home in the empty rooms of the security office to provide convenient accommodation for students from various universities.” Huang Haining said that seeing so many students love Hainan made him genuinely happy.
Reporters visiting the “Travelers’ Home” saw nearly 50 beds neatly arranged in a clean and spacious room. The university also provides basic amenities such as hot water and bedding. “Although it’s not as comfortable or convenient as a hotel, we patrol outside 24 hours a day, so safety is absolutely guaranteed!” Huang Haining said.
Student Travelers Praise Hainan’s Stunning Scenery
Reporters learned that so far, Hainan University has hosted 46 student travelers from seven universities, including those from Guangdong and Sichuan. Many more students are contacting Huang Haining to reserve accommodation dates.
A group of over ten student travelers from Guangdong University of Chinese Medicine left Haikou this morning to begin their island tour. Wang, a student from the university, told reporters that they had successfully arrived in Wenchang. “The scenery along the way is absolutely beautiful—Hainan is truly a paradise on earth.”
“Sanya’s Tianya Haijiao, Wenchang’s Eastern Suburb Coconut Grove, Boao Forum… Just thinking about going to Hainan soon gets me too excited to sleep,” said Song Lina from Peking University’s Graduate School. She noted that both the beautiful scenery and delicious food in Hainan are very appealing, and the weather is perfect for cycling. She and seven classmates will arrive in Haikou on the evening of the 26th to begin a nine-day island tour.
