Spitzkoppe is a massive mountain entirely composed of granite and is very famous in Namibia, often referred to as the country's "national mountain." Its towering and majestic form stands quietly in the renowned Namib Desert and is frequently likened to "Namibia's Matterhorn."

The granite that forms Spitzkoppe dates back about 700 million years. The highest point on the mountain reaches an elevation of 1,784 meters. Strangely, the surrounding terrain is completely flat, which is undoubtedly due to the magical forces of nature. The mountain’s summit rises about 700 meters above the surrounding desert plain. The scenery of Spitzkoppe is quite spectacular, featuring a completely pristine natural landscape scattered with oddly shaped rocks and caves. Among these caves are rock paintings created by humans 2,000–3,000 years ago. As visitors climb and hike among the boulders, they may occasionally spot wild animals darting by in the distance.
