Eastern Square

Introduction Eastern Square was commissioned by José I Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon, an unpopular king who was constantly worried about the royal family being harassed by commoners. As a result, he decided to build a square in front of the royal palace. The square was designed by Velázquez, and even the intricate details of the head on the bronze statue of Philip IV in the center of the square were completed by him personally. Meanwhile, Galileo resolved the balance issue of the towering horse’s head and hind hooves. 　 Transportation Location: A square located to the east of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
