Plaza Mayor of Madrid
Introduction Although not large in size, Plaza Mayor is one of the most important squares in Madrid. At its center stands a statue of the Duke of Bazán, Admiral of the Navy under King Philip II. The Casa de la Panadería on the eastern side is the oldest civil building in Madrid, while the Casa de Cisneros to the south and the City Hall to the west are connected by a narrow passageway.
