Church of the Calatravas
Introduction The Royal Church of the Calatravas was commissioned in 1670 by the Calatrava cavalry to be built for nuns. The construction was completed in 1678, and in the 19th century, architect Juan de Madrazo carried out renovations. As a result, the façade seen today is in the Neo-Renaissance style. The largest altar, decorated between 1720 and 1724, was created by Benito de Churriguera.
