Gran Vía
Introduction Gran Vía is one of Madrid's main thoroughfares, completed in 1952.
The avenue is lined mostly with traditional Spanish buildings infused with European and American architectural styles, all featuring ornate façades, majestic colonnades, and street-facing balconies. Some of the more notable buildings along this street include Edificio Metrópolis, the Cigar Museum, and the Chapel of the Galician Bullfighters. Of particular note is the Edificio Telefónica, Spain's first skyscraper, completed in 1929 by American architect Luis Sert.
