Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, commonly known as the Bernabéu Stadium, is named after Santiago Bernabéu, a legendary figure in Real Madrid. He successfully led and completed this massive project, and the stadium was named in his honor. It serves as the home ground of the Spanish football club Real Madrid, officially opened on December 14, 1947, with a seating capacity of 80,354 spectators, making it one of the world’s most famous football stadiums.

The Bernabéu Stadium was planned by then newly appointed president Santiago Bernabéu, with construction starting on October 27, 1944, and officially opening on December 14, 1947. Initially, the stadium was called Estadio Chamartín. On January 4, 1955, the club officially renamed it the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to honor the invaluable contributions of President Bernabéu. The stadium's capacity continued to increase afterward, once accommodating up to 120,000 people in 1952. Later, due to hosting matches during the 1982 FIFA World Cup, the stadium underwent major renovations. However, multiple stadium incidents in the 1980s led UEFA to mandate the conversion of most stands from standing areas to all-seater configurations. Three major renovations were carried out after 1982. Since 2005, the Bernabéu Stadium has been rated as a five-star stadium by UEFA, qualifying it to host the UEFA Champions League final.
