The Lazarro·Cardianno Museum is located in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and is primarily used to collect, preserve, and exhibit the artworks collected by José Lazarro Cardianno over the course of his life. Lazarro·Cardianno was a renowned Spanish financier, journalist, and also an art collector — in fact, one of the largest and most outstanding in Spain. Over his lifetime, he amassed a collection of 126,000 artworks, featuring masterpieces from early periods through the Romantic era, as he had no interest in modernist artists.

The building housing the Lazarro·Cardianno Museum was constructed in 1903 in the Neo-Renaissance architectural style. It was once the residence of Lazarro·Cardianno and his wife. After his death, to better preserve his lifelong collection, it was opened to the public as a museum. The museum houses outstanding works by Spanish painters such as Goya, Francisco de Zurbarán, El Greco, and Velázquez, Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, and British portrait masters George Romney and Reynolds.
